I'm using the Icom IC-970A (not the -H!) with significant success on AO-10,
AO-13, FO-20, AO-21 and AO-27. No problems, except that I'm a little
underpowered sometimes. Still in all, it just works fine!
The rest of the station is the Yaesu 5400B rotor and the Cushcraft antennas
(used, rebuilt and actually working). I intend to get newer and "better"
antennas, but these are adequate for what I wanted initially: Get in cheap
and get started (OK, so the -970 wasn't "cheap." The IC251 and -451 were, and
constituted the first OSCAR station...). I'm using the Icom mast mounted
preamps, although I may rework those over the next year to play with gain and
noise figures somewhat.
